Warning: Potential Spoilers Ahead
Welcome to the Moon in 1997 that’s been colonized and is definitely not some Utopian Paradise as we pretty much see right off the bat. Something Cory Crater and the team doesn’t try to hide and I like that. Our man Daniel Schwinn, a washed up Private Investigator, doesn’t exactly appear to have much charm about him either and its kind of refreshing. Even if his attitude, one possibly shared by many on the Moon towards people down on their luck, is horrible. But it seems our man is the one you want when you need a high profile target tracked down after they’ve been nabbed by unknown individuals and or groups. And before I touch more on that, I want to say that I love how this is focusing on the story itself and not explaining how Man managed to colonize the Moon as early as the 90s (or earlier) given our apparent failure to even do that in real life. Though that’s not to say I’m not curious as to how it all happened, as I am very curious.
And perhaps it’ll be touched on later in the story or perhaps it won’t and I honestly don’t think that’ll hurt the story any either.
I’m also loving that the art style by Damian Couceiro and Patricio Delpeche’s colors doesn’t try and make things look great and that it more matches the Dystopian Sci-Fi vibes the story has going for it. Otherwise, it’d just look off. Now, as I mentioned before, ol’ Danny boy’s been hired on to track down a high profile target, namely… A little girl with a skill for dancing. And given Danny finding something around the beginning of the story while doing something else, its entirely possible that find and little Penny’s kidnapping are related. Not to mention pretty smart of anyone to possibly try and set things up in the event of someone going to look for any clues wherever possible. Which leads to some trouble for ol’ Danny Boy but it does seem to help keep him on track on his latest job.
Even if he would rather have a much more effective temporary partner! How long that’ll last is anyone’s guess but it does have potential for a fair bit of comedy.
I am looking forward to seeing what happens next in this series given how things end with a cliffhanger. Though how much attention will be given in relation to another missing child is anyone’s guess but we’ll be sure to find out when the time comes for the second issue to hit our eyeballs. Issue 1 hits stores on December 18th and FOC is November 18th! So getcha Pre-Order on!
